From 1997 to 2006, HUG trained more than 800 doctors and nurses in family medicine, 200 health professionals in the field of adult education and rehabilitated 160 medical centers. A local foundation "Fami Foundation" was created in 2007 with the support of HUG to provide a platform for the management of Swiss projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2011 a cooperation agreement was signed between the Foundation and HUG, enabling the development and management of projects in the field of health. The current project aims to strengthen nursing "Strenghtening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina"; A mandate was signed (2012) with the Swiss Office for Cooperation and development project (SDC), in conjunction with the INS (Institute of Nursing Science Basel) and Fami Foundation. The floods that submerged BiH in May 2014 have significantly damaged the office of our partner "Fami" in Doboj, destroying its structure and equipment. The resumption of activities in relation to our common project is essential in Bosnia and depends on the rehabilitation of the office in Doboj.
